Openness

Awareness has never been caught up in any perception, it is always completely wide-open like the sky. Just as the sky is never affected by any of the phenomena that occur within it awareness is never affected by any of the phenomena that appear within it.

Your perception is always completely wide-open, never affected by any of your thoughts, emotions, sensations or other experiences. By coming to this conclusion for ourselves, by taking short moments of the instinctive recognition of our own always clear awareness, we see that there is a pristine ground of total ease that is always accessible. With the growing confidence in awareness as the root of all experience comes a balanced view, where we are no longer at the mercy of all our unpredictable thoughts and emotions. Instead we are grounded in our fundamental nature, relaxed, wide-open awareness.
